Zeynep Karatas’s Bio

Zeynep Karatas - Spring Grants Intern

Zeynep Karatas is a recent graduate of the University of California, Irvine, and a current Master’s in Global Studies candidate at the University of California, Berkeley. At UC Berkeley, she is a Course Reader for The Politics of Southeast Asia, a Delegate Alternate at the Graduate Student Assembly, and is researching how the legal-policy nexus shapes the gendered working experiences of Syrian refugee women in Turkiye. Previously, at UCI, she participated in three different branches of student government, completed her honors thesis on the European Court of Human Rights judgments’ case framing, and worked with organizations such as Lawyers Without Borders, The Advocates for Human Rights, and Teach for America.
