The ACLU of Maine seeks applicants for a full-time, grant-funded 2-year position of Immigrant Rights Staff Attorney Fellow. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. It is represented by MSEA, SEIU Local 1989. Under the supervision of the Legal Director, the Immigrant Rights Staff Attorney will: 1) identify and develop new litigation and other advocacy projects to address civil rights abuses impacting immigrants; 2) support policy advocacy efforts that aim to improve the lives of immigrants; and 3) strengthen the ACLU’s collaboration and communication with allied organizations working on behalf of immigrants. Maine Equal Justice (MEJ) has an immediate opening for a passionate, mission-driven individual for a full-time Public Benefits Attorney position. This position is made possible by grant funding that expires in January 2027. MEJ cannot guarantee sustaining the position beyond that date. The Attorney is responsible for handling a range of civil legal needs of low-income (200% FPL and below) residents of Maine with a focus on helping clients access safety net programs like TANF, SNAP, and MaineCare. As a litigator, the attorney will be in court or in administrative hearings on a regular basis to provide representation to clients. The attorney is expected to handle cases before state agencies, in all state courts, and federal court.
