Americans United for Separation of Church and State is seeking legal interns who are committed to civil rights, impact litigation, and upholding core First Amendment protections. Full-time positions are available during the summer; both part-time and full-time positions are available during the fall and spring. Your work will include defending the rights of women, LGBTQ+ people, and racial and religious minorities against religion-based discrimination and oppression. And you will fight to keep religion out of government—including through challenges to religious activities in public schools, public financing of religious institutions, and government-sponsored religion in the public square. The public interest law firm Handley Farah & Anderson PLLC is currently hiring Law Fellows committed to advancing economic justice. The firm has successfully litigated landmark wage theft, antitrust, and consumer class actions, including recovering more than $600 million on behalf of exploited low-wage workers harmed by wage-suppressing conspiracies. Fellows will be responsible for litigating nationwide antitrust and consumer class actions as part of a close-knit team of attorneys. Fellows will engage in many aspects of litigation, including conducting legal research, drafting motions, and taking depositions. OUF.

Just Futures Law | Senior Litigator (Remote) [$100,000 - $115,000]

Just Futures Law seeks an experienced, committed litigator to lead and support strategic legal challenges against repressive immigration policies, surveillance practices, and the erosion of First Amendment rights. This is an exciting opportunity for immigration and civil rights litigators who are passionate about supporting grassroots movements and directly impacted communities. We are hiring for an experienced Senior Litigator, with a minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, with some immigration law expertise,  responsible for leading cases and contributing to strategy, without program management responsibilities. This is a  full-time, remote, exempt position reporting to the Legal Director. OUF.

 

National Immigration Law Center | Litigation Director (Remote) [$140,000 - $175,000]

The Director, Litigation (the Director) is a subject matter expert that leads and executes the Legal Department’s litigation work at NILC. As a vital part of NILC’s day-to-day work, the Director is responsible for leading NILC’s litigation efforts in protecting the rights of low-income immigrant communities. The Director is an experienced civil litigator and legal advocate who successfully leads litigation teams in the identification, development, and conduct of impact litigation and legal advocacy in coordination with NILC’s other core strategies of policy analysis, movement power building, strategic communications, and narrative change. The Litigation Director supports the Executive Vice President, Advocacy, the Vice President, Litigation and Legal Strategy and other Directors across the Advocacy team to set the overall litigation strategy. They are responsible for a mix of substantive and strategic work, supervision, and departmental operations by operationalizing strategy and work to maximize the team’s efficiency, productivity, litigation skills, and performance. The Director works in close coordination with counterparts in the Policy, Strategy and Partnerships, Strategic Communications, and Development teams, NILC’s Immigrant Justice Fund (501(c)4), and other local and national partners to advance NILC’s goals via litigation within the strategic framework. The Direction, Litigation will lead the execution of a robust litigation strategy for immigrant justice that is people- and community-centered and grounded in intersectional rights and needs of low-income immigrants in the United States. Public Justice | Access to Justice Senior Attorney (Remote) [$120,250]

Public Justice is a public interest legal advocacy organization dedicated to pursuing high impact lawsuits to combat social and economic injustice, protect the Earth’s sustainability, and challenge predatory corporate conduct and government abuses. Public Justice seeks to hire a litigator with at least eight years of relevant experience for a Senior Attorney position in our Access to Justice Project. The Access to Justice Project works toward these goals primarily through strategic high-impact litigation, but also supports coalition advocacy and works to educate and engage on these topics. The Project’s areas of focus include combatting the use of forced arbitration and other contractual restrictions on bringing claims in court, restrictive standing doctrines, excessive court secrecy, federal preemption of state-law claims, undue limitations on class actions, and limits on accountability for law enforcement and detention abuses. This position is within TLC’s litigation team with a focus on the Border Butterflies Project. Border Butterflies is a project anchored by the Black LGBTQIA Migrant Project, Transgender Law Center, Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement, and other Tijuana based organizations. The project aims to support LGBTQ asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border with legal, humanitarian, post-detention, and organizing support. The staff attorney position, based in the Tijuana/San Diego region, will be hosted by Transgender Law Center. The staff attorney will provide direct legal support to LGBTQ asylum seekers in living Tijuana and the United States. OUF.
