ACLU of Michigan | Executive Assistant (Detroit, MI) [$62,800]

The ACLU of Michigan seeks an Executive Assistant to support the operations of our Executive and Operations teams in their work as individual teams and in their collaborative work supporting the efficient running of the affiliate offices. ACLU of Michigan | Fall 2026 West Michigan Legal Fellow (Grand Rapids, MI) [$70,000]

This two-year, internally-funded position in the ACLU’s western regional office in Grand Rapids starts in fall 2026 and is designed to provide emerging social justice leaders with excellent training and experience in impact litigation and integrated advocacy. The fellow will work closely with the West Michigan office’s Senior Staff Attorney to help develop and litigate cases at the trial and appellate level in state and federal courts on a wide variety of cutting-edge civil liberties and civil rights issues. The person hired into this position will litigate a wide variety of civil rights and civil liberties cases at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts, acting as lead or co-counsel, and often in partnership with volunteer attorneys, coalition partners, and lawyers from the national ACLU. They will collaborate with staff in other departments to set goals and implement strategies that advance ACLU priorities and campaigns. They will also represent the ACLU publicly through speaking engagements, media interviews, and community engagement. They may also be assigned a supervision role if needed. A significant goal of this position is to enable the ACLU of Michigan to respond quickly when significant civil rights and civil liberties issues present themselves in our communities. The legal department is currently comprised of a legal director, three senior staff attorneys, one staff attorney, one legal fellow, one attorney focused on racial justice, one attorney focused on LGBTQ+ rights, an immigrant rights coordinator, a program associate, two paralegals, and an investigator. (ABLE) is hiring a Supervising Attorney to lead a high-impact team providing legal advocacy and outreach for agricultural workers across the state (our Agricultural Workers Project (AWP) is part of our Agricultural Worker and Immigrant Rights Practice Group). This role blends litigation, supervision, team leadership, community lawyering, and systemic advocacy and offers remote flexibility for our AWP attorneys based in northwest, northeast, or central Ohio. Life Span is a nationally known leader in the provision of services to victims of violence and their children. Our comprehensive services include criminal court advocacy, representation in civil protective order cases, expert representation in family law cases, immigration services and counseling for survivors and their children.  Our work encompasses such issues as police domestic violence, immigration, employment issues, sexual assault civil no contact orders, the effects of trauma on clients and their children, teen dating violence, and the criminalization of survivors. Life Span seeks candidates for an Arabic bilingual paralegal to assist victims of domestic and sexual violence who seek civil legal representation and/or criminal court advocacy and provide paralegal support and additional assistance to attorneys as needed. Life Span | Staff Attorney (Bilingual-Arabic) (Chicago or Des Plaines, IL) [$70,000]

The staff attorney will assist survivors with their domestic relations (divorces) or parentage (unmarried couples) cases. The attorney will gain invaluable experience in negotiations, settlement conferences, litigation (including drafting, depositions, discovery, pretrial conferences, as well as contested hearings and trials). Responsibilities include civil representation in orders of protection, family law and civil no contact orders for clients with domestic violence and/or sexual assault issues. The attorney will work with counseling and advocacy staff to provide a coordinated response to clients’ needs. The staff attorney will participate in systemic advocacy and policy reform. In-house and external training and CLE’s are encouraged at the start of employment and throughout tenure at Life Span. Mentorship and guidance are given to all staff attorneys, especially to entry-level attorneys. OUF.

 

Raise the Floor Alliance | Staff Attorney (Chicago, IL) [$75,000 - $85,000]

Raise the Floor Alliance’s legal department specializes in areas of the law that are of special concern to excluded and exploited workers, including among others, wage theft, discrimination, workplace sexual violence, immigration protections for workers engaged in labor disputes, and expanding opportunities for workers with criminal records. RTF’s litigation practice ranges from services to individual worker center members in agency proceedings to complex class actions impacting thousands of workers in federal and state court. The Staff Attorney will be responsible for managing and/or assisting with a substantial docket of cases in these areas, with special emphasis on the interaction of labor/employment law and the criminal legal system. While the Staff Attorney will be expected to litigate cases falling at the criminal legal and labor intersection, the exact balance between work in this area and others will be determined based on interest and experience in other practice areas. The Staff Attorney will also be involved in community outreach, including leading Know Your Rights workshops and working closely with RTF’s community partners in the greater Chicago area. OUF.
