Each spring, the Impact Fund hosts a celebration to bring together California’s social justice community to honor local champions of civil and environmental rights. Our popular event also provides our friends and colleagues with a much-needed opportunity to connect and network and to further strengthen the enduring working relationships that are a hallmark of the social justice community.

On May 11, 2011, more than 150 people gathered in San Francisco at the Four Seasons Hotel to celebrate 18 years of our community’s groundbreaking social justice work. We honored Wal-Mart employees Christine Kwapnoski and Betty Dukes for courageously leading the Dukes v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. class action for the past ten years, civil rights attorney Joseph Sellers for representing the Dukes v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. class in the U.S. Supreme Court, and political activist Daniel Ellsberg, for boldly standing up for the truth in the name of building a better government.
