Lucy Barton’s Bio
Lucy Barton - Grant Program Associate
Lucy recently earned her master’s degree in International and Development Studies, specializing in Human Rights and Humanitarianism, from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. Her master’s thesis focused on Indigenous self-determination in Bolivia and the impact of constitutional reforms on Indigenous rights and autonomy. During her graduate studies, she also interned at DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance where she supported programming aimed at strengthening police-media relations in Latin America, as well as authored a multi-chapter report on gender mainstreaming practices within Latin American police forces.
Previously, Lucy served as a Program Officer in the Latin American and Caribbean Division at the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative in Washington, D.C., where she supported grant-funded projects and partnerships with civil society organizations working to advance human rights, access to justice, and the rule of law. She received her bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies from UCLA, with minors in Environmental Studies and Spanish.
