Litigation

The Impact Fund maintains an active litigation docket in order to stay at the forefront of the class action and collective action legal field and to demonstrate the means for using these legal mechanisms to achieve broad social change.  The synergies between our litigation and the other work we do allow us to maintain our credibility and expertise, demonstrate effective working models for representing the disenfranchised and underrepresented, and speak with authority about how such cases can be managed and won.  By maintaining an active practice, our staff stays current with real world knowledge of how the system is working – and not working—and what practical solutions may be possible.  We are better equipped to serve as mentors and trainers for our grantees and legal service attorneys in the field, to engage with policy-makers about how to improve the management and resolution of systemic cases, and to inform the courts and the public about the importance of enforcing constitutional and statutory rights on a broad scale.
